Camper Trailer Trauma!

Around Covid times Camping boomed in Australia - one of the big sellers were Camper Trailers, essentially a compact trailer that folded a canvas top out and promised the buyer all the convenience of a caravan, but just in a small compact size. I fell for it hook line and sinker!

My first camper trailer was a 2nd hand purchase of Facebook Marketplace, it was simple, worked well, but was heavy and old. It had a slide out stainless steel kitchen unit with gas hob, sink complete with pumped water, an onboard water tank, onboard gas tanks and a place for my trusty old lead acid battery and camp fridge, so it seemed great!

Now although this was older and heavier, the fold out was simple - unclip and flip the lid forward to open it up!

So after a few trips with the cheap trailer, a deal popped up on a near new one- it promised to provide more space, creature comforts, more modern fit out, a rugged offroad setup and just looked very flash, so I sold the older trailer and bought a new one!

What a mistake!

I used this trailer only twice! I had jumped the gun and not researched this setup enough, the setup was gruelling, especially in Australia's mid 30c summer temperatures. It required almost as much setup as a large family tent! It was heavy to tow, and what I had learned here was once you were towing a trailer- you may as well be towing a caravan! Therefore I made the decision to sell the Camper trailer all together, and look for something that required minimal setup! Lucky as covid was expanding the demand for these trailers was sky rocketing, so I didn't loose any money which was very fortunate!

And so we evolved again- and this time Lithium was becoming affordable! Check out or next version here
