Roof Top Tenting in style!

Stepping up our camping setup meant stepping up our vehicle! I wanted a more capable expedition vehicle that had better ground clearance and could take us further, so my choice? a 2005 Range Rover HSE- this particular model was the TD6 variant.
First modifications for the vehicle were All Terrain Tyres, Lift rods (for the air suspension) roof racks and a side awning!

Now in Australis you see a lot of discoveries, but no Range Rovers off-roading- so we stood out! This allowed more roof space to get out of the mattress in the back and add a roof top tent to the fit out, with more space it also meant we could carry more gear, for example; Swapping the cooler box for a 12v camping fridge.

Further upgrades to our setup was a walled gazebo to close everything up in bad weather, additional creature comfort items like tables and ground tents etc. Electric wise we are still running that little battery box, all be it with a new Lead Acid battery in it. At this stage Lithium was still a few years away from being remotely affordable! So gas and lead acid it is!

This setup lasted well, but as always the hunt for more space and convenience- along with a longing to be more self sufficient itched at the back of my mind, so after a few years it was on to the next version! The Camper Trailer
